Patrick Akinwuntan leads the Consumer Bank, which is responsible for the retail, microfinance, cards and eBanking, and remittances businesses of the Ecobank Group. Patrick has an uncommon passion for financial inclusion by taking banking to the underbanked and unbanked across Africa. He has led various innovations to achieve this objective through mobile money partnerships with telcos, international card schemes, Ecobank's pan-African card, Ecobank Rapidtransfer, direct sales agents, kiosks, credit factories and rural savings via POS.
Marc Allsop (Senior Vice President and Head of Global Business Development, Aimia) leads the planning and execution of the expansion of Aimia's full suite strategy into new territories, as well as supporting the enhancement of the Aimia value proposition in existing geographies. Marc joined Aimia from American Express, where he spent 15 years across a range of business lines.
Agada Apochi is the managing director/CEO of Unified Payments, which is a leading payments service provider owned by a consortium of leading Nigerian banks. Prior to this appointment, he worked in different capacities including executive director, group head corporate services, general counsel and company secretary. He worked previously with Union Bank of Nigeria and Fidelity Bank (formerly FSB International Bank).
László Békei is an account manager and consultant of Online Business Technologies. He graduated at Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest. For 15 years he has been working as a consultant, project manager and account manager. In his eight years at Online he has actively taken part in both selling and implementing core banking solutions, specialising in charting of areas new in the company portfolio.
Shachar Bialick co-founded Curve in 2015. Over the past decade Shachar has worked to develop and transform innovative ideas into concrete businesses. He founded and sold numerous companies in industries such as medical devices, finance, e-commerce and mobile telecommunication. His passion for financial and technology innovation led him to found Curve and create the ultimate payment experience. At Curve he serves as CEO and oversees product development and investor relations.
At Credorax for over five years serving as head of Inside Sales, then head of Strategic Solutions and most recently, VP Business Development for Asia & Strategic Solutions, Alon Bigler has vast experience in corporate sales and business development. An expert in strategic partnerships and the Chinese economy in particular, Alon has a degree in Economics and Accounting.
Craig Bond has been CEO of Retail and Business Banking at Barclays Africa Group, including Absa, since January 2013. Craig has over 25 years' experience across leading financial institutions including Standard Bank, Nedbank and Investec. During his tenure at Standard Bank, he gained international exposure as CEO Asia and CEO of Africa.
Andrew Buckley (Senior Vice President & Group Head Core Products Europe, MasterCard) is responsible for the management, development and commercialisation of consumer and commercial products for Europe. Andrew earned a BSc degree in Electronic Engineering at Bradford University, an MBA at Manchester Business School and is currently a part-time doctoral student researching Product Innovation at the University of Manchester.
Aongus Buckley (Senior Analyst, Lafferty Bank Quality Ratings). His M(Econ)Sc and BComm degrees are from University College Cork and University College Dublin, respectively. He covered the banking sector for London-based Bond Radar, which focuses on the Eurobond market. He began his career in 1996 as an economist with London brokerage GNI, whose research team strongly emphasised the role of bank balance sheets in the macroeconomic system.
Jean-Louis Carrara (GM Europe for Mozido) is a mobile wallet professional with over twenty years of experience across Europe and North America in secure mobile solutions. Jean Louis was previously VP of Telecom Business Development for Gemalto in North America, developing NFC, OTA and M2M solutions. He was a member of 4G Americas and an early mentor for Coinsilium, a listed blockchain company.
Francesco Dalessandro is Vice-President Business Development, Head of Global Network Partnerships at American Express. Based in London, he is responsible for developing the bank partnership business in Western Europe (Spain, Italy, France and the UK), driving value to banks across all Consumer and Small Business products. Francesco has been with American Express for ten years. Prior to his current role, Francesco held several positions both on Issuing and Acquiring, from Corporate & Strategy Planning to Business Development.
Eugene de Villiers
Eugene de Villiers is the current managing director of Tenacity Financial Services, a company highly regarded for its management of retailer in-store credit card programmes managing over one million card holders and two million Lay Bye clients. He has close to 30 years' experience in the finance industry. Before joining Tenacity Financial Services in 2007, he worked for the RCS Group, a retail credit card and loan operation recently acquired by BNP Paribas.
As Director of Business Development (EMEA), Salim is responsible for Carta Worldwide's commercial growth initiatives within the EMEA region, covering both the digital enablement and core processing verticals. Before joining Carta in 2013, Salim worked on economic development projects led by the World Bank Group in various parts of Latin America. Later, he worked as an associate within a small-cap private equity fund focused in emerging markets. Salim holds a degree in Economics and International Development from the University of Toronto.
Damian di Carlo
Currently an Inside Account Manager at ACI Worldwide, he is based in Spain and has four years' experience in the finance sector. Fluent in Spanish, Italian and English, he works within the Financial Intermediaries segment and has customers throughout Europe. Over the last year he has been heavily involved with Immediate Payments initiatives.
Losseni is the Head Commercial Banking of Ecobank Cote D'Ivoire. He joined Ecobank in February 2009 after 10 years of distinguished service with Banque Atlantique and BICICI (BNP Paribas) where he held senior leadership roles as Head of unit "Credit Study" and Local Account Manager. His 7 years in Ecobank have been marked by the judicious execution of strategic roles and assignments which have contributed to the evolution of Ecobank Cote D'Ivoire from a Corporate Bank to the No. 2 Universal Bank in Cote D'Ivoire.
Silke Finken is Professor of International Management at the International School of Management: her research focus is innovation and financial services. Previously, she was senior vice president of Operations/Services at DZ Bank, responsible for strategic projects, and headed innovation and consulting management for transaction banking. Before joining DZ Bank, Professor Finken was a project manager at Bain & Company.
Marek Fodor (Chairman, Kantox) began his career working in consulting and banking before moving on to internet-related projects. Before joining Kantox he co-founded and served as CTO at Atrapalo, the largest independent online travel agency in Spain. He is an active business angel investor and mentor for technology startups. A specialist in marketing and growth strategies, Marek has a dual university education background in both computer science and economics.
Philippe leads Kantox's strategy and vision and is a reference in the fintech industry. Specialised in corporate finance and business strategy, before founding Kantox in 2011, he was a consultant in strategy and operations at Deloitte. Philippe has an MSc in Business Strategy and an MBA in Corporate Finance, both from Toulouse Business School.
Rob Giles leads Transaction and Electronic Banking at Diamond Bank, covering Cards and Payments, Channel Management, Money Transfers, Cash Management and Global Trade products with over 15 years of experience. Additionally, Rob leads the Financial Inclusion agenda at Diamond Bank, which includes Mobile Financial Services and Agency Banking. Diamond Bank is a Nigeria-based bank with other operations across West Africa and the UK. He has also worked in Barclays, Standard Bank Africa and Bank Muscat International.
John Gilligan is an experienced M&A professional, who has worked in what is now called the fintech sector for nearly 30 years. He established the specialist M&A boutique, NovitasFTCL, nine years ago, having previously established, grown and sold a systems integration business. Virtually all of his work is cross-border and involves undertaking capital raises or selling fintech businesses. His most recent transaction was the sale of Risk Intelligence Ireland to Verisk Analytics, a Nasdaq-listed business.
Since 2013, Pascal has been managing his own international business consultancy firm. Over a period of 35 years, he has accumulated a substantial international professional experience first in the global hospitality Industry and secondly, with American Express. During a career spanning 25 years at the financial services giant, he gained a profound understanding of the card payment industry and managed businesses, teams and projects across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
Caroline Hastings' (Director of Councils and Client Relations, Lafferty Group) experience in banking extends back to the 1980s, including an 11-year spell at Rabobank International, where she rose to executive director/SVP for the Structural Trade Finance Group.
Jonathan Hayes is founder and president of Dinube, the digital payment network that started up in the MIT Media Lab. Dinube was the winner of several awards at MIT and later set up operations in Europe. Prior to that, Jonathan held senior roles at two other software start-ups, one based in Barcelona, the other in Montréal. Jonathan was born in Zimbabwe and grew up in Africa and Europe.
David Hirsch is head of Corporate Development at Klarna, Europe's leading provider of online point of sale financing and integrated checkout. David and his team are in charge of growing Klarna's geographic and product footprint through strategic partnerships, M&A and third party distribution. Prior to joining Klarna, David was with American Express and McKinsey & Company.
Louise Holden FRSA (Director of Public Private Partnerships, MasterCard Worldwide) has 25 years' experience of working in international payments and technology. She works with governments, donors, United Nations, NGOs and humanitarian agencies to help design and launch electronic payment solutions. Louise has led MasterCard's Financial Inclusion efforts in Europe and has worked on programmes to include over 53 Million European citizens in banking. Louise is passionate about inclusive growth, fintech and female leadership.
Evelyn Hunter-Jordan is chief executive officer of the Retail Banking Academy. Evelyn joined Lafferty Group in 2007 as assistant to the chairman, becoming Lafferty Group general manager in 2008 and has played a major role in the development of the Retail Banking Academy.
Patrick Kabisi has contributed to the startup and the remarkable performance of Ecobank D.R. Congo since 2008. He currently is the Consumer Bank Head and supervises its activities across the SADC region. Patrick contributed to the implementation of mobile banking in Ecobank DRC. It is with enthusiasm that he continues to lead the efforts of getting alternative channels as an operating model of choice in the banking landscape of the DRC and beyond.
Elie Abou Khalil
Elie Abou Khalil is Head of Group Retail Products Development & Strategic Segments for Byblos Bank. Based in Beirut, Mr. Abou Khalil is responsible for managing the marketing strategy and execution of all retail loans, cards, small businesses, accounts and bank insurance businesses. This includes overseeing the product and business development of Byblos Bank's retail business across the 12 countries where the bank is present.
